Course Overview

Body composition assessment is now a core operating layer of the modern performance-longevity practice, informing everything from resistance-training prescription and nutrition coaching to how a clinician interprets the effects of GLP-1 agonists, hormone replacement, and endurance training on a patient's trajectory. TWI 208 · Body Composition Science is a foundation-level clinical course that teaches DPTs and DCs how to acquire, interpret, and act on data from the four modalities that dominate real-world clinical practice: dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA), multi-frequency bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA, including InBody and RJL platforms), air-displacement plethysmography (BodPod), and manual anthropometrics (skinfolds and circumferences). The course is grounded in the ISCD 2019/2023 Official Positions, the ESPEN BIA guidelines, the ISAK anthropometric standards, the EWGSOP2 and AWGS 2019 sarcopenia consensuses, and the 2023 IOC REDs body composition best-practice recommendations (ISCD 2019; Cruz-Jentoft et al. 2019; Sundgot-Borgen et al. 2023).
