My practice started as an orthopedic manual physical therapy clinic, and I quickly realized that many of my patients needed more than anything traditional PT had to offer — nutrition guidance, targeted supplementation, functional labs, imaging, and metabolic support. That realization pushed me down the road toward practicing as a functional DPT, and the outcomes I’ve seen since have been on a different level entirely.
Health is more than the absence of disease. If the body isn’t functioning optimally at the cellular level, any MSK issue is going to be harder to treat. That principle sits at the core of everything I do in clinic and everything we teach at Tidal Wave Institute — the belief that performance, longevity, and pain resolution all rise or fall together.
I teach because I want the clinicians I’ve trained beside — and the ones I’ve never met — to have access to the same integrated framework it took me years of trial, error, and continuing education to build. That’s the whole reason TWI exists.

Every course we teach is drawn from active clinical practice.
TWI isn’t a retirement project. Dr. Smith continues to see patients weekly at Advanced Manual Therapies in Alpharetta, Georgia, running the same clinical protocols, ordering the same functional labs, and interpreting the same MSK ultrasound findings that appear in the curriculum.
If a peptide protocol doesn’t work in the clinic, it doesn’t make it into the course. Every clinical framework in TWI has been used on real patients — and refined against real outcomes — before it ever appears in a lecture.
